Canada’s population is of 33,738,000 people. Every year over 170.000 persons become Canadian citizens.

If you are eligible to become a citizen, you will need to take the citizenship test (if you are aged between 18 and 54) and attend a citizenship ceremony (if you are 14 or older).

To be eligible, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • have Permanent Resident Status in Canada
  • have lived in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years
  • be able to speak English or French
  • have a clean criminal record
