Federal Business Class

This program is specifically created by the Canadian Government to attract both capital and business skills.

This Business Immigration program was developed for those individuals who have entrepreneurial skills, business expertise, successful experience and attainment in business, and who can invest in, start, or buy enterprises in Canada and contribute to the development of a prosperous and strong Canadian economy.

There are three classes of business immigrants:

Please note that these programs are for people who intend to live anywhere in Canada, except the Province of Quebec, which has its own selection criteria in accordance with the Quebec Business Class.

Each category (Investor, Entrepreneur, Self-employed) is different. It is very important for a successful immigration process to establish the category you best qualify for.

In order to apply for a Canadian Visa, you must establish the correct immigration category for your circumstances. In addition, all business applicants are assessed against 5 criteria such as education, experience, age, language ability and adaptability and should obtain a minimum of 35 points out of 100 to qualify.

Investor Program

  • have successfully operated or directed a qualifying business for two years within the last five years;
  • have accumulated a net worth of at least C$1,600,000;
  • make an investment of C$800,000 into a government guaranteed Immigration Fund.

In order to qualify for "Business Experience" an Investor applicant must meet one of the following:

  • have managed at least 5 full-time employees per year for at least two years in the last 5 years as a Manager
  • have managed a business and owned shares in that business in 2 of the last 5 years as an Owner or Manager.

Depending on the office that serves your country, the processing times are about 14-30 months.

The investment of C$800,000 is used by the Government of Canada for job creation and economic development. The return of the investment is fully guaranteed, without interest, in five years after you become a permanent resident.

If you would like a loan for the investment, there are financing plans available for the amount of C$800,000 . These plans are accessible with the option of a loan from a Canadian bank and the cost of interest will be about C$120,000. There are various financial institutions we deal with and we can assist you in obtaining an investor loan.

Entrepreneur Program

Entrepreneurs are defined as people who have the ability and the intention to become economically established in Canada and make a substantial contribution to the Canadian economy.

There are certain requirements for prospective candidates, as well as conditions the entrepreneurs have to meet after they become Permanent Residents.

Criteria:

  • have a legally obtained minimum net worth of C$300.000;
  • two years of experience in management of a qualifying business and the control of a percentage of equity of the qualifying business in the last 5 years; and
  • have the intention and ability to meet the following conditions: create or buy an existing Canadian business that will create at least one full-time job for Canadian citizens or permanent residents, control at least 33.33% of the equity of this business and provide active and ongoing management.

For the Canadian business that the entrepreneur will manage, in any year within the period of three years after the day the entrepreneur becomes a permanent resident, there must be documentary evidence of any two of the following:

  • the percentage of equity multiplied by the number of full-time job equivalents is equal to or greater than two full-time job equivalents per year;
  • the percentage of equity multiplied by the total annual sales is equal to or greater than C$250,000;
  • the percentage of equity multiplied by the net income in the year is equal to or greater than C$25,000; and
  • the percentage of equity multiplied by the net assets at the end of the year is equal to or greater than C$125,000.

There is also a system point for Entrepreneurs of maximum 100 points and minimum 35.

Depending on the immigration office, the processing times are 14-40 months.
