| Provincial Nominees |
|
This program is in accordance with the Agreements signed between the provincial governments and the Federal Government of Canada. These agreements grant the provinces the right to select their immigrants based on the economic needs of the local market. Each province has its own selection criteria, requirements and immigration programs, so the provincial nominees are not assessed on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program. Persons who immigrate to Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program have the skills, education and work experience needed to make an immediate economic contribution to the province or territory that nominates them. Each applicant, in order to become a permanent resident, must first be nominated by a Canadian province or territory. After you have been nominated by a province or territory, you have to forward an application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada for issuance of your Canadian Permanent Resident visa. You will also have to pass a medical examination and security and criminal checks and show that you have enough money to support yourself and your dependants after you arrive in Canada. The following provinces and territories have Provincial Nominees Programs: British Columbia If you would like to know if you qualify as a Provincial Nominee, please contact us. |
